Changes to mandatory inspection availability

In an effort to minimise COVID-19 exposure risks Council have needed to implement changes to the availability of Council Plumbing and Building Inspector, Mr Chris Imrie.

From next week all mandatory plumbing and/or building inspection bookings will be limited to Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1pm onwards with priority given to time critical inspections such as drainage and/or concrete footings/slab inspections.

Council has consulted with a number of local builders and plumbers to ascertain how to minimise inconvenience during these unique times. The feedback received indicated that maintaining mid-week, afternoon inspection services would go a long way to achieving minimal disruption.

To ensure everyone can get the inspections they need please ensure that bookings are made via the main office number (02 6924 8100) with as much notice as possible – same day bookings, or inspections outside of these hours cannot be guaranteed and may not be available.

Council is endeavoring to maintain a high level of service to our local construction industry during this public health emergency and will continue processing applications, approvals and certificates as normal via remote workplace arrangements. Questions and enquires will still be answered either by phone or email and special appointments or site inspections can be arranged if necessary.

It is regrettable that such measures are required and we would appreciate everyone’s understanding and co-operation during this difficult time.

Any questions of concerns please contact the Junee Council office on 02 6924 8100.

Friday, 27 March 2020

As of Monday, 30 March 2020, our office will be CLOSED to the public.

Whilst staff are still working behind closed doors, face-to-face services are no longer provided.

If you are unable to access online services, please call us on 6924 8100 between 9.00am and 5.00pm to make an appointment if you require assistance.

In line with the updated directions of the Minister, Council advises that all NSW caravan parks and camping grounds are closed except for the purpose of accommodating permanent residents of those premises or other persons who have no other place of permanent residence.

Those affected include (but not limited to):

  • Bethungra Dam Reserve
  • Illabo (Showground and Tennis sites)
  • Junee Golf Club
  • Junee Tourist Park
  • Sandy Beach Reserve

---------

In an effort to reinforce social distancing principles Council is strongly advising the community not to use public playground equipment. At the present time we do not have the resources to routinely disinfect playground equipment.

---------

On Monday, 23 March at midday the Junee Junction Recreation and Aquatic Centre closed its doors following a Directive from the State and Federal Government as a precaution against spreading COVID-19. As a result there is currently no access to the entire facility.

We understand that this is devastating for members and staff and we are working on ways to provide some form of health and fitness to the Junee Shire community and wider membership eg loaning of equipment (limited) and online hosted group fitness classes.

There is no timeframe on when we might re-open, therefore we have placed all memberships on hold until further notice. We have put all future direct debits on hold accordingly.

Please follow the Junee Recreation and Aquatic Centre and Junee Shire Council social media platforms and websites for regular updates. We will be sending out further communication directly to members in the coming days.

We wish everyone good health and please stay safe.
