2024 Local Government Elections

The 2024 Local Government Elections will be held on 14 September, 2024.

If you’re interested in becoming a councillor in the upcoming local government elections, here’s what you need to know:

1. Nomination Period: The nomination period for the 2024 Local Government Elections in New South Wales runs from Monday, 5 August 2024 until 12 noon Wednesday, 14 August 2024. During this time, you can be nominated by either:
   • A registered political party.
   • Two electors. If nominated by two electors, they ust be enrolled in the local government area for which you are being nominated.
2. Public Information Sessions: To learn more about the responsibilities and process of becoming a councillor, consider attending public information sessions or online webinars.
3. Making a Difference: By becoming a councillor, you have the opportunity to make a positive impact on your local community.
