A dedicated band of Junee people wanted to create a heritage inventory for the whole shire. Little did they know how big the project would be. The committee has inspected over 350 sites across the shire, re-mapped villages where people used to live, and identified Cob and Co Hotel sites where only trees grow now.
This project is nearing completion and is to be documented in a publication. Of the 350 sites, some will have important local heritage significance and will be recommended for listing in the Junee Local Environment Plan.
The benefit of this type of research will be invaluable to local schools and history buffs wanting to know about historical places in the Junee Shire.
