The Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) provides an insight into the way we, as a community, think that the Junee Local government Area (LGA) should grow and expand over the next 20 years from a land use perspective. The document also sets out the key opportunbities and challenges we face.

The Junee Shire Council Development Control Plan 2021 (DCP) was adopted by Council on 20 April 2021 and came into force on 22 April 2021. Parts of the DCP were amended in July 2019 and in February 2021 to address residential development in Junee Shire .

The DCP sits alongside the Junee Local Environmental Plan 2012 (LEP) and contains more detailed guidelines for development, which need to be considered in preparing a development application.

While DCPs do not have the same level of statutory weight as a Local Environmental Plan, they are an important consideration in the development planning, development assessment and approval process. The DCP helps achieve the aims and objectives of the LEP and indicates the preferred future direction for development within the Junee Shire.

The DCP was made by Council in consultation with the community and applies to all commercial, residential, industrial, rural, rural residential development and subdivision in Junee Shire. The DCP will be reviewed regularly, both on an as-needed basis, and as a scheduled annual review to ensure that the content remains up-to-date and consistent with the objectives defined by Council in response to consultation with the community.
