Environmental, Waste and Sewer Coordinator

Junee Shire Council is currently seeking a skilled Environmental, Waste & Sewer Coordinator to join our Engineering Services department on a permanent, full-time basis. If you thrive in a collaborative, problem-solving environment and want to contribute to meaningful local government initiatives, we want to hear from you!

Reporting to the Director Engineering Services, the Environmental, Waste & Sewer Coordinator will be responsible for operating and maintaining the sewer network and treatment plant. You will support in the development of strategic plans to address environmental, reuse and waste and wastewater issues within Junee Shire Area.

As the Environmental, Waste & Sewer Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Director Engineering Services in managing Council’s environmental, waste and sewerage functions.
  • Lead, guiding and supporting operational staff at Junee Landfill and Junee Sewer Treatment plant site to develop and put in place consistent operational and maintenance plans.
  • Managing the wastewater collection and treatment system as well as the water re-use system to meet financial, environmental, quality and legislative requirements.
  • Providing technical reports and advice to other members of staff on environmental issues.
  • Providing assistance with Environmental Assessments for Council’s construction projects.
  • Assisting in storm water management and land and water management planning
  • Developing a plan to address environmental issues within Junee Shire.
  • Assisting other staff on waste management and minimisation issues.

 

Is this position for you?

To succeed in this position, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Management
  • OH&S General Induction for Construction Work in NSW (White Card)
  • Current Class C NSW Driver’s Licence
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a small team and contractors
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in the co-ordination of projects
  • Demonstrated experience using Geographic Information Systems
  • Highly developed leadership and representational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WHS and environmental legislation

Business Support Officer (WHS & HR)

Position Vacant

Junee Shire Council is seeking an organised, proactive and customer-focused Business Support Officer (WHS & HR) to provide administrative, compliance and systems support across Council’s Work Health and Safety, Human Resources, Training and Staff Development functions.

Reporting to the Risk Manager, this role will contribute to maintaining workforce compliance, employee records, training and competency systems, workplace safety programs and organisational reporting processes.

This is a varied position suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple business functions, maintaining accurate systems and records, supporting employees and helping an organisation meet its safety, workforce and compliance obligations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Current Class C NSW Drivers Licence.
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC), or ability to obtain.


Desirable

  • Previous Local Government experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in work health and safety and/or human resources.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in Return-to-Work Coordination.
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety and/or Human Resources Management.
