POSITION:

Exciting opportunities have arisen for hardworking individuals to work with their Roads Maintenance and Construction Team on a permanent full-time basis (76 hours, 9-day fortnight)

If you can drive heavy and/or medium plant or want a job working outdoors as a general labourer with the opportunity to be trained in the operation of heavy or medium plant these are the jobs for you!

The positions present an excellent opportunity to pursue a career in the civil construction industry in the local area.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The positions would ideally suit a person who is prepared to work outdoors, have good fitness and health, be willing to learn, follow direction, show initiative and responsibility, and have a genuine interest in the construction industry.

A person with both labouring experience and/or experience in the operation of construction plant or similar equipment, are encouraged to apply.

A complete medical fitness and functional assessment will be required to be undertaken by the successful applicant.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Junee Shire Council are currently seeking an enthusiastic Procurement Officer/Storesperson to join their Engineering Department. Reporting to the Manager Engineering Services, the Procurement Officer/Storesperson is integral to procuring and managing the inventory of materials, equipment and fleet required to enable Council to effectively and efficiently complete maintenance, construction and projects in a timely manner.

As the Procurement Officer/Storesperson you will be responsible for:

  • Providing procurement support and advice to Senior staff in relation to quotations, tenders and procurement management with regards to goods and services that are to be delivered to Council.
  • Assisting with purchasing processes involving prescribed agencies as defined by the Local Government (General) Regulation 2005.
  • Maintaining accurate stock and administrative records and associated transactional history in compliance with corporate record keeping requirements.
  • Monitoring the storage of materials and equipment to ensure compliance with accordance with safety requirements for example safe storage of hazardous materials, safe stacking heights, maintaining walkways and other safe storage requirements.
  • Proactively manage integrity of the Store, developing and adhering to procedures, and auditing to maintain accuracy and prevent loss.
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of Council’s fleet and depot plan and budget.

IS THIS POSITION FOR YOU?

To succeed in this position, you will possess:

  • Certificate IV in Business (Procurement) or equivalent OR willing to obtain (with employer support) within 12 months of commencement.
  • Previous experience in stores management, procurement and acquisitions including record keeping and administration.
  • Strong computer literacy and competency with Microsoft Office.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously within a team environment.
  • Energetic, committed to achieving good results in a positive team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating with suppliers.
  • Accurate, timely record keeping and attention to detail in administrative tasks.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Junee Shire Council are currently seeking a Communications and Marketing Coordinator to join their growing Planning and Community Development Department. You will have access to a team of highly skilled professionals who will inspire you and encourage you on your professional development journey.

This position is ideally suited to someone who is passionate about all things Events and Marketing. You will have the opportunity to use your creative flair to present ideas for events and a range of other initiatives to improve the community’s awareness of Junee Shire Council’s services and functions.

Reporting to the Director Planning and Community Development, you will play an integral role in driving the direction, innovation and content of Council’s public relations, marketing and communications activities.

As the Communications and Marketing Coordinator you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining information, communications and marketing materials and content to keep the community and staff informed on matters and events of community interest by utilising a range of channels and media.
  • Assisting in managing and promoting commercial and tourism activities across the Shire.
  • Building relationships and liaising with other organisations for the benefit of the Junee community
  • Attracting, coordinating and supporting volunteers to assist with running Council events.

IS THIS POSITION FOR YOU?

To succeed in this position, you will possess:

  • Previous experience working in a Communications and/or Marketing position.  
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to develop creative ideas, curate and write content.
  • Applied knowledge of contemporary communication methods and trends, with a track record of using them to improve communication outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including researching, writing, editing, proofreading and presentation, adaptable to a range of projects and audiences.
