Junee Shire Council is reminding motorists to take extra care when driving in fog, as reduced visibility can significantly increase the risk of accidents.
Council’s Road Safety Officer, Steven Bloomfield, advises drivers to adjust their behaviour to suit the conditions. This includes slowing down, increasing the distance between vehicles, using low‑beam headlights, and avoiding sudden braking or lane changes.
Drivers should only use fog lights when visibility is seriously reduced and switch them off once conditions improve. It is also important to ensure windscreens are clean and demisted before driving.
If visibility becomes unsafe, motorists are encouraged to pull over in a safe location away from traffic and wait for conditions to improve.
